Martech, sheep and cake in Shanghai.
A couple of weeks back, I was in Shanghai visiting our Asia Pacific partner Ergo. We were putting together the finishing touches to the next step in our partnership strategy.
This will mean an extension of our DAM managed services in the region. We will be introducing an engagement team for change management, training and stakeholder support based in Ergo’s offices, located in Shanghai’s charming Xuhui & Jing’an district. While there we had the opportunity to present our DAM managed services experience to 3 global enterprises in Luxury, Beauty and Pharma. It is clear from the receptions we received that the benefits which can be delivered by a well-supported DAM platform is totally recognised but with one consistent caveat coming through loud and clear. It needs to be evangelised and supported on the ground, recognising the speed, direct contact and nuances in relationships that need to be managed for effective engagement.
We believe that aligning our skills and experience with Ergo’s knowledge of the region will hold us in good stead through the next phase of our DAM development strategy. On a more personal note, it was my birthday while I was there. I am now aware I’m a sheep, a little disappointing I thought! Then again it turns out my wife is a rat. They are supposed to be compatible! I learnt something else from the charming team who welcomed me so enthusiastically in Ergo’s office; how to write and say happy birthday in Chinese. It’s: 生日快乐 pronounced shēng rì kuài lè. Here’s a picture with me and some of our colleagues after the cake consuming ceremony.
